We live in a world of change, a world of speed, a world of migration, of freedom of speech, of evolution, of progress, of science, of knowledge. We live in a world where we could achieve anything we want if we just put our mind to it. We have all the possibilities we could have desired, all the opportunities our previous generations did not have.
But sadly, we also live in a world of hunger, of terror, a world of war, a world in which the fight for resources is greater than ever, a world in which many leaders seem to have forgotten that guns and bombs do not solve problems, that peace should be our greatest goal.
While we enjoy the possibilities and opportunities of the free, careless world, the other half of the planet struggles to make ends meet, always carrying a fierce fight for each and every glass of water, for each end every leaf of bread.
Therefore, it is of utmost importance that we, the youth of the privileged countries, understand our duty, our responsibilities, not only towards the entirety of the planet, but also towards our own selves, to make tomorrow a better, more peaceful day.
Through communication, and more important, through diplomacy, we have a chance at changing this dual world we live in, to make it a whole, to make it a real home for each and every single one of its inhabitants. If we stay true to our beliefs that together, through hard work, knowledge and passion, we can achieve this goal, then we can be sure that the future will be a brighter place.
Today, by participating in simulations such as the BISMUN Conference, we prepare ourselves for the challenges we might face tomorrow. Today, we are just pretending, tomorrow we will be making decisions and changing lives.
May this edition of the Conference help you become the best versions of yourselves! May it give you the necessary confidence to accomplish your goals! May it teach you all the skills you need in order to improve our future!
