In the second day, the delegates of the Counter Terrorism Committee resumed the discussions carried yesterday and brought new elements in their search for combating terrorism.
They finally realized that only by cooperating in every field will they have a real chance to come up with real solutions to their problems. First of all, they tackled the illegal drugs issue, the traffic of oil and the illicit source of capital owned by ISIS.
The delegates found solutions for the mentioned topics by promoting the cooperation between Interpol and all the represented states like China suggested. Others suggested in their declarations that new international partnerships need to be created to address the issues mentioned above.
Another important topic that the committee discussed was the importance of national sovereignty for states that are in a crisis, such as Syria. However, the delegates of the United States of America strongly criticized those countries that still choose to act alone.
There were further clarifications stipulated by the honorable chairs, which had the purpose to differentiate ISIS from a country. They do not have a territory so it is more difficult to be dealt with.
For the first time in the Committee, the delegates voted to hold an unmoderated caucus. This gave the delegates the chance to cooperate more efficiently between themselves.
We hope that in the following days we will see the first steps in the writing of the resolution.
