The first day of BISMUN is always a pleasant experience, especially when the weather is on our side. It is the glorious day we all have been waiting for, from delegates and chairpersons to organizers and volunteers. Undoubtedly, everybody was nervous, but this was not an obstacle for everything to go as planned.
There were a lot of new faces this year who were more than thrilled to share their vision towards the topics and the admiration for our tremendous country with a view to having their expectations fulfilled. From what we’ve learned, the Delegate of Cuba in the DISEC Committee strongly supports World Peace, as he has already stated: “We are not here to provoke anyone. We are not here to start a war. We are here to collaborate with other states in order to establish a safer world”. Moreover, he told us that this is his first BISMUN experience, but not the first MUN so far.
BISMUN Conference is a unique experience for all our participants and often they decide to come back. A concrete example is the delegate of the Russian Federation from the SC Committee, who was so excited that he took the decision to come one more time. He confessed that Bucharest is his favorite city in Europe, not only due to its magnificent architecture and buildings, but also because of the great atmosphere. He was extremely enthusiastic about the Romanian Night from the last year: “There was a Romanian Night, but you couldn’t really see whether it was a Romanian or a Greek night, because we were all dancing together and listening to traditional songs and music which was really nice”.
Moreover, the Angola Delegate in the Crisis Committee was mesmerized by the resemblance between the Romanian Cafes and the Swedish ones. The Delegate of Turkey from UNEP explained us the situation in his represented country: “In Turkey we have a different environmental policy compared to most states as we really prefer focusing less on the environmental regulations since they are the biggest drive for our country. We focus much more on fossil fuels”.
To put it all in a nutshell, as our Greek friend drew the line: “It’s all about having fun and escaping a little bit from reality”. This is how the magic of BISMUN works! Therefore, we invite you to stay tuned and follow the next BISMUN stories from 2017!
