Today, 23th of March 2017, in DISEC committee it was a very intense day. The emotions and the nervousness were felt from the first seconds of the negotiations. In order to break the ice, the morning started with a mocking session as a warm up for the real simulations later today. The proposed topic was “Who need to pay the bill at restaurant?”. The honorable delegates of Pakistan, Iran and Syria told that the man should pay the consumption, but the most common answer agreed by the delegates was that: “The person who needs to pay is the person who launches the invitation”. Even if few delegates sustained that the women need to take the initiative and pay the all bill, the general assumption was that each of them has to pay for its own.
Even if the atmosphere at BISMUN is very diplomatic and serious, our delegates still need an impulse to be more productive. Obviously, the topic was discussed like a serious issue, for example the Honorable delegate of China stated that: “Private matters, private decisions, we cannot enter in theirs life”
During the mocking session DISEC also had subtopics such as: “Who pays the bill at the restaurant when couples of the same gender are meeting?”. The honorable delegate of Australia stipulated that “the person which has the biggest biceps”. Adding to the amusement, it was proposed as a resolution to settle all the differences in a wrestling match.
After the mock session passed, the delegates presented their country positions regarding the disarmament, subject that requires lot of work and professionalism. Of course, the implied and inferred attacks were on the agenda, the spirits heated and we shortly emerged ourselves into a heated debate.
