Fresh beginning for the Security Council in the morning of the third day of the conference. The final resolution was finally drafted and the voting process was next to come.
Nevertheless, agreeing on the amendments of the resolution seemed to be a much difficult process than expected. Splitting the House in order to make it easier for the delegates to vote for the amendments accordingly to their preferences, seemed, at a certain point, the only solution that could help the process of adopting the final resolution in the United Nations Security Council. However, this solution wasn’t eventually agreed as many. In the words of the delegate of the United Kingdom, ‘’this would be a delay’’. Fears about a delay were also expressed by delegate of Spain.
The situation quickly escalated into a hot discussion regarding the amendments of the resolution and it all reached a really critical point when, considering that it was responding to an offend, the delegate of Ukraine declared war on Spain but it all ended up with the delegate apologizing for such a rushed decision. Fortunately, the delegation of Spain accepted the apologies and clarified the situation for avoiding further misunderstandings and in order to improve the cooperation with Ukraine.
The discussions continued under the form of an unmoderated caucus, all in the hope thata common decision would be reached with concern to the final resolution and, against all the odds, taking into considerations the heated debate and confronting opinions, the resolution was finally adopted, with all the members reaching common grounds on all the amendments.
One more remark should be done regarding today’s session in the Security Council. Someone informed us about the friendship that formed between the allies, thing that can only bring us a large smile on our faces, as our first goal of BISMUN2017, as stated by our Russian Federation Ambassador a few days ago, is to “have fun, make friends and escape a little bit from reality”
